To England and Beyond?

The Hugs are confirmed to play the "in the city" music conference in Manchester, England next month. It's a really cool conference for un signed acts, where labels and agents and fans meet.
A tour through out London's glorious rock n' roll venues will follow, so if your in London come visit us and pick up a CD and a t shirt and a good ol' show.

Oh yeah and this promo video is pretty neat for our single "She Was High"
Look below:

If Your In The Mood

I enjoyed this film!
It takes place in the future. . . Like most sci-fi movies. I am really into space movies. And this seemed to be the best pick, a movie about a team of six going to the sun to explode it to save life on planet earth (the sun is dying) . . .It turned out to be a great film, slow at times but start to finish a very good plot and special effects. Go check it out!

Fawkin' Oasis Calls It Quits

In an official statement on the band’s website, Noel, 42, wrote last night: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

“Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

Speculation has been growing about the band’s future in recent weeks and was fuelled by the Manchester band’s failure to perform their headlining slot at the V Festival in Chelmsford last weekend, saying that Liam had laryngitis.

In an interview with NME magazine this month, Liam was asked if he would oppose Noel taking time off from the band to pursue a solo career. He said: “If it makes him happy, yeah, if it makes him happy.

“If it was up to me I’d have six months off and then get straight back in the studio and make records. That’s what I’m in Oasis for. I’m not here to f***ing sit around for five years twiddling my thumbs.”

Liam, 36, had taken to his Twitter page earlier this week to dispel rumours that the band were due to split and to apologise to fans at the V Festival.

As well as paying tribute to the bands who covered Oasis’s slot and apologising for having “given you sh*t” in the past, Liam wrote: “Finally reports in smartarses column about Oasis last British gig ever. The kids talking out his arse, I mean rkids, bware of darkness. LG.”

Liam had revealed earlier this month that he and Noel were no longer on speaking terms and while on tour travelled separately, seeing each other only on stage.

Oasis came to national attention in 1994 with the release of their single Supersonic, which was followed by the album Live Forever, which reached No 1, later that year and (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? in 1995.

Look At These Upcoming Shows!

Press From Salem Show (s)

If Kim Jong Il had the gentle, delightful music of The Hugs in his life, would he still be so difficult?

Probably, but you should still go to one of the band's shows this weekend in Salem.

While the quartet's effect on international relations are still dubious, its music is pretty, pretty, pretty awesome.

The Hugs play loopy and freewheeling poppish rock that sounds a little British, with good reason. Although the lads are from Portland, in 2008 they toured in the United Kingdom, where they also recorded an album.

And amongst the people who discuss these things, The Hugs definitely are a band to watch for possible future world domination.

So you can say you saw them way back when. And, with an all-ages show and a 21-plus show on the slate, there's no excuse not to go.

On Friday, they'll hit the IKE Box starting at 7 p.m., with 1776 and Devil's Punchbowl. That show all-ages is $5 at the door, or $3 if you buy tickets in advance.

Then at 9 p.m. Saturday, The Hugs will be playing at The Space along with 1776 and Bottle Rocket. Cover is $5.

The Smartest Man in the World?

This is Chris Langan.

Formally a bouncer at a bar, he now owns and operates a horse ranch in northern Missouri. When he's not refilling chicken feed, he's spending his down time theorizing his Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe, (CTMU) which in a simplistic, Wikipedia nutshell, is a "theory of the relationship between mind and reality".

According to 20/20, after given a thorough IQ test, Chris "broke through the ceiling", scoring an astounding 210! To put that into perspective, the average IQ for the average Joe is more or less around the 100 range. Mental retardation is apparent in the 65 range and lower. That's about a 35 point difference. Chris's score, between the average, is more than 3x that difference!

Whether or not this makes Chris the smartest man in America, or even the world, in accordance to Chris's everyday life, he could care less. When Asked, "Have you ever met anyone smarter than yourself?" his reply was...

"As near as I can tell no. And if somebody walked up right now and claimed to be smarter than me, I'd put him through his paces. I'd try to find out, how sophisticated a picture of reality he'd evolved. I'd try to see what he was holding in his mind simultaneously and what he could do. I wouldn't give him necessarily an IQ test. I'd look at his productions. Am I capable of understand his productions? Is he capable of understanding mine? If the answer to that were in his favor, than I would have to say 'He's more intelligent than I am.' But that wouldn't necessarily stop me from doing what I have to do. Is he out there? I doubt it. Could be, I don't rule it out. I'm not in complete control of reality."

Here is a full interview from an episode of First Person.

Seinfeld

I have been watching the famous comedy show Seinfeld lately. It's a great show and has some very special plots and funny twists. If you have not dug into the show, I suggest you do now. Season 5,6,7,8 are the best!
